KDD Conference No-Show Presentation Policy
To maintain the quality, integrity, and professional experience of the KDD Conference program, all presenting authors are required to adhere to the following no-show and presentation guidelines (for both oral and poster presentations):
1. Mandatory In-Person Presentation
Authors of accepted papers must present their work in person during their assigned presentation slot at the conference.
- Remote presentations will not be possible, regardless of reason.
- Proxy presentations are not allowed. Only authors listed on the accepted paper may present the work. It is possible to transfer the registration in case the originally registered author is unable to attend.
2. Notification Requirement for Inability to Attend
If a presenting author becomes aware that they will be unable to attend the conference:
- They must notify the Track Chairs at least four (4) weeks before the start of the conference.
- This requirement ensures that program adjustments can be made in a timely and organized manner.
3. No-Show Consequences
A presenter who fails to attend their scheduled session without providing timely notice may face consequences that can include:
- Possible removal of the paper from the official conference proceedings (if aligned with publisher policy),
- Ineligibility for future KDD submissions for a defined period,
- Reporting of the no-show to SIGKDD leadership.
4. Exceptions
KDD understands that unexpected circumstances may arise (e.g., health emergencies, travel disruptions, visa issues).
- Authors experiencing such issues must still notify the Track Chairs as early as possible, even if within the four-week window.
- Exceptions might be considered on a case-by-case basis, but the default assumption is that the author will make every reasonable effort to attend in person and that a failure to meet the notification deadline will carry the aforementioned penalties.
